THE CONSERVATIST CIVILASITION LIVING IN TECHNOLOGY AGE

LYRICS

As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know, I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool
And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone
I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
I've churned butter once or twice
Living in an Amish paradise
It's hard work and sacrifice
Living in an Amish paradise
We sell quilts at discount price
Living in an Amish paradise

A local boy kicked me in the butt last week
I just smiled at him and turned the other cheek
I really don't care, in fact I wish him well
'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in hell
But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it
An Amish with a 'tude? You know that's unheard of
I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat
And my homies agree, I really look good in black...fool
If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears
We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years
But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare
We're just technologically impaired

There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar
Not a single luxury
Like Robinson Crusoe
It's as primitive as can be

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're just plain and simple guys
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no time for sin and vice
Living in an Amish paradise
We don't fight, we all play nice
Living in an Amish paradise

Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter
Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise another
Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart?
Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art
I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes wanna be like
On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife
So don't be vain and don't be whiny
Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're all crazy Mennonites
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no cops or traffic lights
Living in an Amish paradise
But you'd probably think it bites
Living in an Amish paradise

I want to introduce another community called “Amish”. As you can see in the video, they have different life styles from today`s other societies. The lyrics of the song describe the Amish so i chose this song for my this entry.
The Amish are a Christian community which reject using techonology and keep living in a conservatist way. The Amish movement was founded in Europe by Jacop Amman. “ Amish” name is derived from his name. They migrated to Pennsilvenia ,United States after they had leaved from Europe. Today a lot of Amish communities live in different provinces of States but most of them are in Pennsilvenia. Their population is approximately 200.000. They isolate themselves from American culture. Neither they vote nor give tax.
They have strict rules regulating their daily lives. They belive in anabaptisizm so they don`t baptist their children when they are infants because an infant doesn`t know God, evil, heaven etc. so it can`t decide its religion on its own. When they reach a mature age, they decide whether s/he should baptist or not. The Amish use none of technological devices in their daily lives. As they believe that for being a real Christian, they should live their life like Jesus. According to them, God created people for a simple life. The techonology makes life complicated. Even in homes, there is no electricity. They meet this need with gas lamps. They prefer plough than tractor in fields. Their means of transportation is still horses contrary to the world using modern cars.
They are opposed to wars. They think not fighting is one of the basic teachings of Bible so they don`t enlist to military either. They haven`t a private church instead of this, they worship in one of the member`s house each week.
Their clothes are very simple and plain. They don`t use buttons. Men have beard and big hat. Women never get their hair cut. They aren`t allowed to make up and wear personal jewellery. Women`s most important duties are; serving to their husbands and raising children who are average 7 per family. They are in favour of large families because they believe God blesses them. Amish young adults decide with whom they will marry by themselves but they can`t marry anyone who is from outside the community. After wedding, the newly-married couple stay with their family for a while.
There are more strange points about their life style but I should put a end here. I hope you enjoyed.

BISCOLATA MOOD

Attention girls! This entry will be about Biscolata commercials ;) These commercials have been number 1 on my top ten list so far. I like them not only for visiual pleasure that it offers us- lady viewers- but for other reasons. First thanks to Biscolata, there is a commercial which use men as a sexual object now. In almost every commercial wanting to take viewers attention, there is beautiful women and this disturbs me. Lady viewers have same opportunity now even though biscolata commercial is only example at least I have watched. Second Biscolata has been my favourite biscuits since it was released so those commercial didn`t affect me to buy them much more. Even if the commercial hadn`t showed hot men, I would have kept buying them. I`m not a victim of these commercials, I just like watching them! Only point that i didn`t like about commercial is that men`s nationality. Why are they Spanish, Italian and French? Are the handsome men avaliable only in those counrty? They could have used men who are from different country maybe Korea or Japan ;) It`s  only my suggestion :D Shortly I`m personally grateful to Biscolata commercial producers who finally think lady viewers...

MY LITTLE SON

Tansu`s blog about her pet, Artist , inspired me to write about mine “Candy”. He joined our family 1,5 years ago. On a hot August day, we found out that a cat gave birth in our garden. She had 2 lovely babies. At first she didn`t want to show them to us but she allowed us after starting to eat meals which we gave her. My little sister – she was 3,5 -4 years old then- gave their names. According to her, mommy cat`s name was “Bella”, her babies` were “Edward” and “Jacob”. Unfortunately one night approximately 3-4 huge dogs killed their mom. I saw that but I couldn`t save her. I threw at stones and tried to chase them but I couldn`t get on. They didn`t care me. After this incident we took kitties to our second floor and started to take care them. They were scared and helpless and weren`t used to eat meal without helping their mom. As time passed, they got used us and we changed their names because we thought they were females -What a mistake!- Their new names “Lady” and “Candy”. Till summer, they stayed in our roof. We made place where they could stay outside. They started to live outside and when they got hungry, they meowed and took their meal. -I want to point out that they were very selective in food, they didn`t eat everything which we gave. They prefered mostly egg, cheese, meat, chicken and of course fish. Candy is still selective :D – Frankly speaking Lady wasn`t very smart and he even followed the dogs and one day we couldn`t find him. Candy is alone now and I think he forgot his brother. He lives comfortably. Since he is very cute cat ( He is also very fat cat like Garfield!) almost everyone in our neighbourhood feed him. Especially our next door neighbour loves him very much and Candy usually sleeps at her home. I also feel Candy`s affection towards me. Whenever he sees me, he jumps to my lap and starts to look my face differently as if i were his mom. I have forgetten this feeling since my bird, Çikita`s death. Thanks to Candy, I remembered it. He is now our sixth member of our family and I love him very much. I recommend everyone take care a pet.

A DELICIOUS LOVE STORY

Once upon a time there was a very talented and famous baker in one of the far countries. He made great desserts and everyone admired their taste. There was also a very very beautiful girl in the country that he lived in. The girl was the ferocious king`s only daughter called Khaneefe. The King loved his daughter very much and didn`t want her be upset about anything or anyone. Even though every men in the counrty was afraid of the King`s anger, they couldn`t help falling in love with her. Unfortunately who dared to confess his love was killed by the King since he was fond of his daughter and he wanted to find the best husband for her.
One day the King found out the fact that his favourite baker in palace was a fellow of his biggest enemy ruling another country and he put position in the King`s meal so as to kill him. As soon as this information was reached to the King, he ordered the deathman to behead him. Being deceived by a person whom he trusted was felt frustrated and upset. Everyone who was afraid of his anger in palace tried to find a solution which calmed down him. Finally the solution was found>> Bringing the most talented and trusthworthy baker to the palace. This big news was reached to the Baker. At first the baker turned down the offer but he accepted later because of the people`s insistence. They said that this offer had been the biggest chance for his occupation and he could find proper ingredients to make delicious desserts that he couldn`t make due to lack of ingredients. The baker started to work in the palace. In his first day the king tasted a dessert made by him and loved it. He decided to promote the baker after proving his trustworthiness. In the second day the baker made another dessert while serving it to the King, the baker realized Khaneefe and he fell for her at first sight. In contrast to other men who loved Khaneefe only for her beauty, the baker`s heart pounded strongly when he saw Khaneefe`s shining eyes and brilliant smile. After this, the baker couldn`t spend a day without thinking Khaneefe. He thought a way to confess his love. He had nothing but his desserts so he made a dessert to show his sincere love. The dessert was reached to Khaneefe by a palace worker who is close to the baker. Unfortunately the story of baker`s love and dessert was heard throughout the country and special recipe of dessert was discovered and almost every bakery started to make this dessert. Everyone who tasted it loved that delicious dessert and called it “Khaneefe”. Needless to say that the fame of the dessert went to the King and he got frustrated upon this news but this time was different from others because his daughter also fell in love with the Baker. The King didn`t want to hurt Khaneefe and decided to give a last chance to the Baker to explain his feelings sincerely. The King asked to him, “ Why did you make a dessert like this to show your love? What was the factor which inspired you?” The baker, “ It was your daughter`s love, your majesty. I used two layer of kadayıf which represent me and your daughter. At first the middle of two layer is empty. They are apart from each other like us because of difference of our social classes. The only thing that can bring us together is our warm love. I thought cheese could fill this empty and it could stick two layer when the cheese was melted. I prepared a special hot sherbet to melt it. This sherbet represents you, your majesty. It`s hot because of your possible anger towards my love, it`s sweet because of your deep affection towards your daughter. This dessert can`t make without sherbet and this love can`t continue without your majesty`s approval.” said. After hearing his explanation, the King decided to accept their love since the baker was the best person who could make his daughter happy according to the dessert.
This love story became a legend. Every generations continued to tell this story to their juniors and the name of dessert “Khaneefe” changed into “Künefe” after ages.
